Not Getting Verification Code

  1. Check your phone number to make sure you entered it correctly.
  2. Make sure you are using a regular USA mobile phone number, not a landline, Skype, or Google Voice.
  3. SMS delivery by the phone carriers may take a few minutes, so please be patient.
  4. The carrier information for your number might not be up to date. This is especially possible if you have ever moved your phone number. Text VERIFY to 23559 (our number) to fix this and retrieve your verification code.
  5. Your phone or carrier might be blocking texting to shortcodes (5 digit numbers). If you text VERIFY to 23559 and get no reply, contact us and let us know which phone carrier you have.
  6. Contact us: support@cel.ly or our support desk. We'd love to help.

Trouble Inviting People

If you are sending out SMS invites, and people aren't receiving them, it could be because the phone carriers have stale information about the phones you are inviting.

This can usually be resolved by having your invitees text your cellname to 23559.

For example, if your cell is called @history101, tell the people you invited to text @history101 to 23559. This patches up the carrier information and lets Celly start texting with them.

If they get no reply, or an error when they text to 23559, see this section for help.

Also please note that Celly only works with USA mobile phone numbers and doesn't work with Skype or Google Voice.

No Reply or Error When Texting Celly

If you are a new user and don't get a reply from Celly (after trying a number of times), or you get an error such as "This shortcode is unavailable" this is usually caused by a setting on your phone account.

This can be resolved by calling your phone carrier and telling them that you want to be able to text with shortcodes (five digit numbers) such as 23559.

Also please note that Celly only works with USA mobile phone numbers and doesn't work with Skype or Google Voice.
