Celly Blog: @ is the new #, a new SMS app, and other improvements2011-06-06
We just deployed a tiny change that we think will have a big effect on user experience:
We changed Celly Channel syntax from # to the @ symbol. That is, channels are now prefixed like @mychannel (instead of the previous way of #mychannel). By the way, for compatibility, the # syntax still works).
We think the @ syntax creates better familiarity with email and IM addresses. So now when you see a message in your channel, it will look like: sendername@thechannelname
Another reason for swapping @ for # is that we are developing hashtag integration. This will make it natural for Cellyzens to markup their messages with #hashtag.
New Note-taking App
We added the ability for you to send messages to yourself in the form of notes.
To capture notes for yourself, just txt @me mynotehere
To see your last note, just txt LAST @me
To see your last few notes txt LAST @me 5
You can see up to 10 notes this way. To see all your notes, visit cel.ly/notes
ACKS instead of RCP
Another syntax change we made is that we replaced the command RCP with ACKS. The ACKS command toggles receipt of channel acknowledgement messages on/off. So if you want to turn off these acknowledgements, just txt ACKS.
Zendesk support
We’ve also integrated Zendesk for our support. You can submit tickets and feedback at support.cel.ly or use the support tab on the right-hand side of our site.
Thanks for using Celly!
